Each week, our blog has a quick look at the real estate market activity on the Halifax Peninsula.  We also select some of our favourite new homes that have hit the market. For the week of January 14th:

  • 12 New Listings (-9 from previous week)
  • 13 Conditional Sales (= to previous week)
  • 8 Firm Sales (-6 from previous week)

The number of new listings slowed down fairly significantly but conditional sales remained the same.  As such, competition for Peninsula homes will remain high.  The best real estate sells quickly and some of our HaliPad Picks from the previous blog have already accepted offers.

Our HaliPad Picks this week: Peninsula and immediate area

You'll find links to the listings we talk about at the bottom of the page.

8 Dunbar Lane (sold)

Sought after location in Ravenscraig, just a short drive to downtown Halifax.  If this house were on the Peninsula, it would be well over a million dollars so this short drive is worth the extra bang for your buck.  A beautiful, contemporary two storey built in 2012 nestled amongst the trees.  You will have to deal with the Armdale Rotary but we've yet to see any more deer get stuck in the middle this year, so perhaps the traffic worries aren't so bad.

2 Kent Avenue (sold)

Work from home while enjoying the view!  If a commute turned you off the last home, how does working from your own house sound?  Offering sweeping views of the Bedford Basin, this executive home showcases a six room office space currently used as a clinic.  The best of both worlds while sacrificing very little. Warning: You won't be able to use deer on the Rotary as an excuse for being late to the office.

5670 Fenwick Street (sold)

I'm from England and am a bit of a sucker for older homes.  Yes, the floors can be a little wonky and make you feel like you've had a glass of wine too many.  The doors likely require a bit of a hip check to get them to shut properly. This is all part of the charm and character!  Located in walking distance to downtown Halifax while offering a secondary suite, this Peninsula Pad has tons of potential.  The right imagination will bring it to life.

6329 Duncan Street (sold)

Did I mention I like character homes?  And an English Garden - I feel like they are marketing this to me!  Grand and stately, this R2 zoned home offers an attractive blend of old world character and thoughtful updates including two propane fireplaces.  Definitely worth a closer look.

101-5677 Harris Street (sold)

Be a part of the developing North End and live in a contemporary condo, steps from the Brown Hound Pub, Agricola Street Brasserie and Lara's Cafe to name a few.  Units in this building usually go quickly and it's easy to see why.  Open concept, modern and with building features like a rooftop patio.  Keep this one on your list if you're looking for a Halifax condo.

NOTE: IF A LISTING MENTIONED ABOVE CAN NO LONGER BE SEEN BELOW, IT MEANS IT HAS SOLD.
