2047 Oxford Street
A warm and cozy home with lovely wood burning fireplaces to huddle around this winter. Neat as a pin, this home has seen many upgrades without losing touch with the character that makes it special. Rich, dark wood accents augment the lovely atmosphere created by stained-glass windows and refinished floors. The kitchen adds a modern flair with crisp white cabinets and stainless steel appliances. Upstairs, there's lots of space with three bedrooms, the main bath and a fantastic loft area which has been converted into a family/flex room. Off street parking and a nice backyard, but located on a road which can be very busy at certain points during the day.
Pros: Tons of space, old world charm with modern touches, off street parking.
Cons: Busy street, especially at rush hour.
3135 Ashburn Ave
Move in and unpack! This home has been substantially updated, showcasing a gorgeous kitchen as the star attraction. With a grand centre island and focal wall with sleek subway tile, this is a kitchen you'd want to cook in. The open concept main level captures what the modern buyer demands with pot lighting, updated fireplace and lots of natural light. Three full bathrooms, three good size bedrooms and a great fenced yard with a hot tub and sunny deck!
Pros: Open concept, awesome kitchen, move in ready.
Cons: The most expensive house to sell in the area the past two years went for $459,500.
1938 Connaught Ave - HaliPad Pick of the week.
A regal Dutch Colonial with a large, south facing yard surrounded by other stately residences. You instantly feel at home as you enter the living room to find a focal wood burning fireplace, bright windows and period finishes. A flexible main floor offers plenty of different areas to nestle down to read a book in the sun or simply watch the world go by. Upstairs, you'll find four enormous bedrooms and a main bathroom in immaculate condition. The basement has a separate entrance and offers the potential of an in-law suite with a bit of imagination.
Pros: Character abound, sprawling footprint, fantastic surrounding properties.
Cons: Busy street with a center median which means you can only get home in one direction.
5826 Pinehill Drive
Walk to the park! We live just around the corner from this house and are very excited for the warmer temperatures to arrive so we can take better advantage of our surroundings. The home offers ample space albeit a little chopped up, with lots of different rooms scattered around the main floor. Mostly updated but perhaps in need of a bit of colour to bring the home to life. This one makes the list because of its quiet location and proximity to Point Pleasant.
Pros: Location, location, location!
Cons: Layout.
6089 Oakland Road
On a street where homes fetch upwards of $2 million, this tastefully renovated two storey checks some serious boxes. Grand curb appeal with a covered veranda invite you in. You'll find a bright and sprawling main level with coffered ceilings, modern kitchen and upgraded lighting. Upstairs, the master bedroom showcases a glamourous ensuite with a luxurious shower and his/her sinks. Your basement has the perfect media room while outside, you'll find a large yard, deck and double garage. Wonderful property!
Pros: Luxurious features, stately feel, great street.
Cons: Some people aren't keen on corner lots.
1801 - 6369 Coburg Road
Um, wow! Who says you need to downsize into a condo? This seriously impressive penthouse stretches over a whopping 3,850 square feet. That's bigger than most of the homes I mentioned today. Stunning views are available in every direction and if you get tired of looking outside, you can focus on the spectacular interior. Completely renovated including a kitchen worthy of being on the cover of a magazine. The pinnacle of modern luxury in Halifax.
Pros: Outstanding views, spectacular finish.
Cons: Extremely specific target market.
